Jack Sprat and His Wife are the wonderful nursery rhyme couple, skinny and fat, as it is comically told! The overall height of this piece is approximately 15 inches. The dolls' heads and hands are cernit, and they have cloth body with wire armature. They have glass eyes and mohair hair, which the artist prepared and dyed from fleece. The outfits are of natural fibers and this artist's costuming incorporates antique textiles and accoutrements. This is a one of a kind variation on the theme. If you look closely, you will see that the little plate the couple holds together has the nursery rhyme written on it . . . "Jack Sprat could eat no fat His wife could eat no lean, etc. . ."
