Anna Avigail Brahms
Anna Avigail Brahms was born in Israel and studied art history at the University of Jerusalem. Upon graduation she spent two years touring with a puppet theater troupe, creating puppets and performing until she quit the theater when her son was born. Moving to Jerusalem, she continued her artistic journey and experimented with techniques and media. It was at this juncture that she began making dolls as well as puppets; her first art doll was made of the newly introduced polymer clay medium of Fimo. Since then her work has been exhibited in galleries in Israel, Europe and the USA. The heads and limbs of her dolls are sculpted of clay or polymer clay and attached to a body constructed of a cotton-packed wire armature. The hair is goats hair or silk threads; eyes are glass. Among her art work are dolls representing angels, fairies, literary characters, fairy tales and ethereally beautiful ladies and children.
