Yolanda Bello

Yolanda Bello has been sculpting dolls and figurines since 1970. Her porcelain dolls are known for their lifelike expression and are more realistic than most play and collectible dolls. Clothing doll is designed by the artist for each piece she creates. The company she founded, Bello Creations, produced her more expensive limited edition studio pieces but she also designed dolls which were produced in mass editions, such as her "picture Perfect Baby" series by Ashton-Drake. A hall mark of her work is authenticity, whether it be of the expression or the clothing her doll is wearing. Most of her doll are children and babies with wonderful expressions that capture a moment and emotion in life that is instantly recognizable. Some are inspired by nursery rhymes or childrens' stories. Ethnic and national costumes also are prominent in her work, which features dolls representing Asian, African, European and American children. Yolanda Bello's work has been recognized not only by the appreciation of collectors but has won industry awards as well.
