Dear Little Dollies, at the north end of Bedford Avenue, is once again raising funds for the great cause of supporting those suffering with Alzheimer’s Disease. Dear Little Dollies spearheaded the Give From the Heart Fundraising Campaign for the Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center (the ADRC) three years ago, with the launching of the Athletes For Alzheimer’s Endurance Event right in front of Dear Little Dollies doll shop during the weekends of Bellmore Street Fair in 2014 and 2015. Athletes of all ages and abilities stopped at the tent set up outside the doll shop, where they were invited to get down on the mat and perform push ups for Alzheimer’s. Every push up had a sponsorship “dollar”, so every push up helped someone with the disease. The Endurance Event has been hosted at various local fitness centers and gyms since, including Steel Fitness, Beyond Fitness, and Training for Warriors, all three located in Bellmore, and Synergy and the Goshinkan Dojo, both located in Merrick, as well as LA Fitness of Levittown. Molloy College in Rockville Centre also hosted an Endurance Event on Campus, with many of the Molloy College sports teams joining in for a very successful event. All tolled, over $40,000 has been raised in this Campaign, and 100% of that has been donated to the ADRC for the excellent support and service they provide for those suffering with Alzheimer’s, their families and their caregivers.
The Give From the Heart tent right in front of Dear Little Dollies doll shop will again be a Bellmore Street Fair highlight on September 17 and 18. There will be items to purchase with 100% of the proceeds going to the cause, and there will be raffle baskets which will be called at the end of the Street Fair, late afternoon on the 18th. You need not be present to win! Don’t miss the opportunity to support this cause while enjoying truly good-Hearted fun, and of course, try your luck with raffles
The ADRC is the local charitable 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to support research that may lead to a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease, to provide care, support and education programs for families in need, and to be advocates for local families who are coping with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias. Your support will ensure the continuation of the ADRC core services, including care and consultation, information and referral, education, support groups, and safety services products. Your support will help develop an early onset/early stage physical fitness program, a music therapy program, art therapy program, onsite training, a Alzheimer’s Disease Research Library, and more.
The main office of the ADRC is located at 45 Park Avenue, Bay Shore, NY 11706.
