Yakov is a splendid Rus warrior from a remote time before Russia was one country and united under one name. He is porcelain, with clear-cut features and eyes like those of a hawk. Armor - helmet, shield and spear - is all authentically rendered according to the actual life sized ones used in battle. Real tempered iron and other metals have been employed by the expert blacksmith who fashioned them, and who also has been in charge of preserving the real historical weapons at the History Museum. The chain mail is knit from real silver thread.

Designed by Alexandra Kukinova and sculpted by S. Boguslavsky, Yakov is #12 in a limited edition of only 500 (if even this edition limit was fully produced). He stands 24 inches tall, and is porcelain with a soft body made of cotton fabric stuffed with cotton wool. He has blue-grey "glastic" eyes.

The Muscovy Company was formed by Alexandra Kukinova in 1990 with the mission of illustrating the beauty of Russian traditional costumes through the medium of dolls. The accuracy of the costuming is ensured by extensive historical research, in collaboration with experts from three major Moscow museums -- the Museums of History, Decorative Handicraft, and of Folk Art.
