Serita comes from two backgrounds. She is modeled after a real little girl which the artist, Annette Himstedt, encountered and was enchanted with, and which she photographed so that she could then design this portrait doll. The real little girl was notably shy and coy, but oh so beautiful! She was of American and Indian heritage, her mom coming from America and her dad from India. She has the gorgeous complexion of her mixed heritage, set off by the pale green color of her hand-dyed cotton silk gauze dress and felt hat, over her shoulder length straight dark human hair. Serita stands about 29 inches, and was produced in a limited edition of 70.
The artist was so impressed with this shy little girl -- a princess in her exotic beauty -- that she created a little Indian "prince" for her. His name is Jondal, and he is sold separately.
