Athletes for Alzheimers’ Endurance Event
Who says athletes don’t love dolls? They do when the doll is a Dear Little Dolly! In 2014 Dear Little Dollies began the “Athletes for Alzheimer’s” Endurance Event for the ADRC (Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center). This event was originally conceived as a push-up event, with athletes of all ages and abilities obtaining sponsors for their participation in a grand push-upcontest. (more below)
Participating Local Venues
We asked local gyms and fitness centers “How many push-ups can you and your clients or students do in a minute? What if every push-up made a real difference in the life of a community member who suffers from Alzheimers?” We heard back from Steel Fitness of Bellmore , the Goshinkan Dojo of Merrick, Synergy of Merrick , Train for the Game of Bellmore, Training for Warriors, LA Fitness of Levittown, and Beyond Fitness of Bellmore. Each of these venues held a push-up event for the cause.
Even high schools and colleges got involved, with participants from Kellenberg Memorial HS, Chaminade HS and the athletic teams of Molloy College. Throughout Dear Little Dollies sold Dolly Basket raffles. What a mix! Brawn and Beauty! One Hundred Percent — Every Penny Raised — has been put to good use by the ADRC. To date, we’ve raised over $40,000 for the cause! And we’ve only just begun! Please join us this year. You’ll be hearing more about it.
So . . . Who said athletes don’t love dolls? or rather, Who said dolls don’t love athletes!!!
